The Vocal Sound of Jazz is a one hour weekly radio program dedicated exclusively to jazz vocal music.  While we showcase legendary singers and timeless standards, our emphasis is on showcasing up and coming jazz vocalists and uncovering hidden gems, and new original music highlighting the depth and breathe of jazz vocal music

  • Radio Station: WHRV 89.5 FM (Hampton Roads, Virginia) – Southeastern Virginia’s  NPR affiliate.
  • Schedule: Every Saturday evening at 8:00 PM (EST).
  • Online Streaming: Available live at whrv.org.
  1. Can I listen to past episodes?

Yes! Archived episodes are available on our website under the Archived Shows section or at Mixcloud

  1. Is the show available as a podcast?

Currently, the show is broadcast live and archived on our website. If we launch a podcast version, we’ll announce it on our homepage and social media.  

  1. Do you play instrumental jazz or other genres?

No. Vocal Sound of Jazz is dedicated entirely to jazz vocal music.  

  1. Are there interviews or live performances on the show?

No. The program consists solely of recorded jazz vocal performances with background and commentary from the host.

  1. Can I advertise or sponsor the show?
